The spirit of giving continued all throughout 2019 by American Red Cross corporate sponsors across Rhode Island. Pledging towards our Disaster Responder and Ready 365 programs, their generosity help fulfill the values that make the Red Cross the foremost global humanitarian organization. Our donors stand with the Red Cross to power our organization with strong infrastructure, trained volunteers, innovative technology and critical resources necessary to provide immediate relief and support to our neighbors in need.
On the ground, our local response is powered by nearly 375 volunteers who responded to more than 200 local incidents including fires, provided immediate disaster assistance to nearly 400 families, installed nearly 1,500 smoke alarms, taught more than 12,500 Rhode Island families CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard and Babysitter training, uplifted 800 military families by offering financial assistance and emergency communications support, and successfully sent more than 20,000 greeting cards through our “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program.
“Every day, people turn to the American Red Cross for relief and hope in the face of emergencies,” said Susan Roberts, Executive Director, American Red Cross in Rhode Island. “Thanks to the generosity of our trusted Disaster Responder and Ready 365 members and loyal volunteers, Red Cross carried out wide-ranging relief efforts this year to deliver comfort and hope to people affected by disasters.”
