Local supporters stand together to address community needs during challenging times
For nearly 80 years, U.S. presidents have proclaimed March as Red Cross Month. Throughout March we recognize the coming together of local supporters – loyal donors and volunteers – who continue to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable in our community.
“We’re very grateful for our generous supporters,” said Mario Bruno, CEO, American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. “The coronavirus pandemic has brought new challenges this past year and our Disaster Responder and Ready 365 members continue to step up and serve as vital partners to help us fulfill our lifesaving mission every day.”
Through this partnership, member organizations make an annual financial commitment and many partners double their impact by donating their time and volunteering. Our partners host blood drives to meet the demand for blood and blood products, participate in home fire preparedness activities and share Red Cross health and safety information through their networks.
The lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross is powered by a workforce of more than 90% volunteers and generous donors. Each year, the Red Cross in Connecticut and Rhode Island serves more than 4.5 million people, responds to more than 1,000 disasters, provides health and safety training to more than 48,000 residents, collects more than 101,000 units of blood, and uplifts more than 2,400 military families by offering emergency communications, support services and access to emergency financial assistance.
