As of Thursday afternoon, the American Red Cross has opened 42 cases and provided immediate assistance to 90 individuals impacted by the immense fire that destroyed numerous buildings at The Palms Apartment complex in West Ashley. The Red Cross, in collaboration with our partners and local government agencies, is now focusing on assisting families with long-term recovery planning and proving referrals to additional services as needed.
Additionally, on Wednesday, the Red Cross of South Carolina hosted a call with 23 civic, government, social services, and faith-based community leaders to coordinate recovery activities and learn how local groups and organizations can assist the impacted individuals.
