Meaghan Silsby, Executive Director Lowcountry Chapter, American Red Cross of South Carolina
Charleston, S.C, April 16, 2025 – The American Red Cross of South Carolina is excited to announce a new Executive Director for the Lowcountry Chapter. This week, Meaghan Silsby will begin her role serving the South Carolina Region.
Meaghan joins the team after holding an Executive Director position with the USS Yorktown Foundation where she significantly increased unrestricted giving, expanded corporate sponsorships, and enhanced financial sustainability.
With extensive experience in fundraising management across multiple organizations—including The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, and City Year Washington, DC—Meaghan has cultivated high-impact relationships, executed successful peer-to-peer campaigns, and led multimillion-dollar fundraising initiatives.
As the Executive Director, Meaghan will lead the important humanitarian mission of the Red Cross for the Lowcountry Chapter. Meaghan will partner with civic and governmental leaders to keep communities prepared for times of natural disasters and she will ensure the Red Cross stands ready to meet the needs of medical centers with constant availability of blood products. Meaghan will also partner with local donors to raise funds and awareness for the many humanitarian relief services provided by the Red Cross.
“Stepping into this role is both a deep honor and an exciting opportunity to serve the Lowcountry in new and meaningful ways,” said Meaghan. “The Red Cross stands as a beacon of hope during times of disaster, provides lifesaving blood to those in need, and empowers individuals through preparedness training. I am inspired to help grow our chapter’s impact and ensure every neighbor feels supported, safe, and resilient.”
Last year in the Lowcountry Chapter, Red Cross volunteers provided care, food, hope, and shelter to more than 1,000 people who faced emergencies. The Lowcountry Chapter responded to 300 local disasters and distributed nearly $240,000 in direct financial assistance to those impacted. The accomplishments of the South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter are a product of the hard work and dedication of 696 local Red Cross volunteers in our community with whom Meaghan will work hand in hand.
