Columbia, S.C, September 15, 2025 – The American Red Cross of South Carolina is pleased to announce Ivan Sterpin has been named the new Regional Director for Service to the Armed Forces & International Services (SAF & IS). Ivan moves into this position following three years as the Regional SAF & IS Director for the Red Cross of South Florida.
Prior to joining the Red Cross, Ivan retired after 24 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, concluding his career as the First Sergeant for the 20th Operations Group at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. In this position, he served as the principal advisor to the commander on all enlisted issues, worked closely with local civilian and military law enforcement authorities and the Office of Special Investigation, and provided guidance to unit members.

As the Regional SAF&IS Director, Ivan will work to strengthen partnerships, enhance outreach, and expand programs to better serve service members, veterans, and their families. His work will build upon the strong SAF & IS work in the South Carolina Region which last year, connected with over 9,700 military members, veterans and their families through outreach activities.
