Jamie Raichel, Executive Director Upstate Chapter, American Red Cross of South Carolina
GREENVILLE, S.C., April 4, 2021 – The American Red Cross of South Carolina is thrilled to announce a new Executive Director for the Upstate Chapter. This week, Jamie Raichel began her new role and will serve on the Senior Leadership Team for the South Carolina Region.
Raichel joins the team following three years in the Red Cross of South Carolina Regional Development Department where she supported fundraising efforts for mission services. During her tenure with the Red Cross, Jamie has stepped up to provide leadership support for multiple departments. Prior to joining the American Red Cross, Jamie held management roles with a number of Upstate nonprofit organizations focused on serving the community. Throughout her career, Jamie has demonstrated that her passion is to help people, families, communities, and organizations thrive at the highest level possible.
"The South Carolina Region of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce Jamie’s new role to our team," said Rod Tolbert, Regional Chief Executive Officer. "Her passion for service and commitment to our mission will help us better serve the communities that are in need throughout the Upstate."
As the Executive Director for the Upstate Chapter jurisdiction, Raichel will be the public face of the chapter and the important humanitarian mission of the Red Cross. Raichel will partner with civic and governmental leaders to keep our communities prepared for times of natural disasters. She will ensure the Upstate Chapter of the Red Cross stands ready to meet the needs of medical centers with constant availability of blood products collected through Red Cross Blood Drives and partner with local donors to raise funds and awareness for the many humanitarian relief services provided by the Red Cross.
"The Upstate Red Cross team positively impacts residents in my own community every day," said Raichel. "I am honored to continue to serve this humanitarian organization and maintain the Chapter's great legacy of supporting people impacted by disasters, collecting lifesaving blood, serving our military and their families, and training our communities in lifesaving skills such as CPR and First Aid."
Last year in the Upstate Chapter, Red Cross volunteers provided care, food, hope, and shelter to more than 1,500 people who faced emergencies. The Upstate Chapter responded to more than 470 local disasters and distributed nearly $370,000 in direct financial assistance to those impacted. The accomplishments of the Upstate South Carolina Chapter are a product of the hard work and dedication of 379 local Red Cross volunteers in our community with whom Raichel will work hand in hand.
