Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross of South Carolina Announces Two New Board Members

Charleston, S.C, October 1, 2025 – The American Red Cross of South Carolina is pleased to announce two new Lowcountry Chapter Board Members: Brenda Kendall-Bailey and Tom Hendricks. Both Brenda and Tom bring a wealth of experience to the Lowcountry board, and we look forward to having them both in these roles.
Brenda Kendall-Bailey serves as Chief Nursing Officer for Medical University of South Carolina Charleston Division, where she leads nursing practice and operations across a diverse healthcare system, including MUSC’s flagship medical center, children’s and women’s hospitals, psychiatric institute, and ambulatory sites. Her work centers on advancing patient safety, nursing quality, and service excellence.
Kendall-Bailey brings over two decades of healthcare leadership, including her tenure at The Ohio State University Health System, where she oversaw perioperative services across eight hospitals and played a key role in major facility expansions, including the OSUCCC—James Cancer Hospital and the upcoming University Inpatient Hospital.
Tom Hendricks is the owner of TL Hendricks Consulting Services, LLC, a strategic consulting firm located in Mt Pleasant, South Carolina. He currently serves on the Board of The Citadel Foundation as chairman of the audit committee and previously served on the Advisory Board of The Citadel’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He also leads the Citadel Cadet Corps Leader Mentor program, providing mentor services annually to 32 senior cadet corps leaders and 14 athletic team captains.
From 2012 through 2016, Tom served as President & CEO of the National Air Transportation Association (NATA), representing over 2,300 global aviation businesses. While at NATA, Tom repositioned the association’s reputation and reach within the executive and legislative branches. He fundamentally altered the perception of NATA within Washington policy circles to reflect a non-partisan, constructive, and solution-oriented approach that resulted in improved benefits for member companies.
Tom also served as Chairman of NATA People Solutions in Reno, NV, and on the boards of the NATA Foundation, the National Aeronautic Association, the Air Charter Safety Foundation, the Alliance for Aviation Across America and the Aero Club of Washington, D.C.
"We are thrilled to have Brenda and Tom join the Lowcountry Red Cross Board of Directors. They bring professional expertise and a heartfelt commitment to the Red Cross mission,” said Meaghan Silsby, the Executive Director for the Lowcountry Chapter. “Brenda’s lifelong connection to our work, from childhood to her leadership at MUSC, adds a powerful voice to our board. Tom’s dedication to the community strengthens our work and opens new doors for collaboration. We are honored to welcome them both."
Last year in the Lowcountry Chapter, Red Cross volunteers provided care, food, hope, and shelter to more than 400 people who faced emergencies. The Lowcountry Chapter responded to 408 local disasters and distributed more than $1,322,000 in direct financial assistance to those impacted. The accomplishments of the South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter are a product of the hard work and dedication of 696 local Red Cross volunteers in our community with whom Meaghan will work hand in hand.
