John Duck has been with the American Red Cross for 15 years. He started after retiring from a long career with Frigidaire Co., the appliance manufactory, where he was the senior director of nation accounts. John’s time with the American Red Cross has been both as a volunteer and as a staff member. He was the Regional Disaster Officer for the state of Kentucky and has served on more than 128 disaster relief operations, including for floods, tornadoes, wildfires, ice storms and hurricanes.
John came to the U.S. Virgin Islands on September 3, 2017, days before Hurricane Irma hit, and is still on board. His first assignment was as the district director for St. Croix. Later he became the job director for the territory (which includes all four islands), followed by the director of readiness, and is now the executive director for the territory. He has committed to staying on the islands for the next two years serving the people and strengthening the Red Cross team there. He is an avid golfer and loves the sun and surf.
