The American Red Cross embodies everything I believe in—community, resilience, and action. As a board member, blood donor, financial supporter, and blood drive host through NorthStar Restoration Services, I’ve seen firsthand how the Red Cross transforms lives.
My connection to the Red Cross is deeply personal. In the fall of 1995, while I was attending USMC boot camp, my grandfather passed away. The Red Cross was the only means my family had to reach me and share the news. Their ability to connect families during critical moments left a lasting impression on me.
Just months later, on March 23, 1996, I was in a life-threatening accident that required multiple blood transfusions to save my life. Those transfusions gave me a second chance, and I’ve never forgotten that people donated blood so that I could live.
As someone with type O negative blood, I know the critical demand for universal donors, and I feel a deep responsibility to give back. I’ve made it my mission to donate regularly, knowing that every donation can save lives in moments of crisis.
In my professional life, I work with families impacted by home fires and other devastating events. I’ve seen the destruction these disasters leave behind, and I know how essential the Red Cross is in helping people start the recovery process. The Red Cross mission to alleviate human suffering aligns perfectly with NorthStar’s mission: “To improve the quality of life of my employees, customers, and those in the community whose lives we touch.”
One of the proudest moments in my Red Cross journey has been hosting blood drives at NorthStar, where our community has rallied together time and time again to collect an incredible 294 units of blood since October 2021. Each unit represents a life saved, a family comforted, and a future made brighter.
For me, giving isn’t just about donating blood or money—it’s about paying it forward and being part of something bigger. The American Red Cross provides hope when people need it most, and I’m humbled to play a role in that mission. Together, we’re making a difference, and I’m honored to continue building on this legacy of care and compassion.
