CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Aug. 17, 2026) — The American Red Cross of Wyoming will be hosting a blood drive on Aug. 24 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, 214 E. 23rd St., Cheyenne, WY, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donors of all blood types, especially those with type O or B blood, are welcomed to help stabilize the blood supply during a critical blood shortage.
Since issuing only the second blood crisis in Red Cross history in late July, thousands of generous donors have stepped up to help save lives. At the same time, the blood supply remains under severe pressure, just as many communities transition to back-to-school schedules and people enjoy final summer plans.
"In April, we saw the generosity of Cheyenne with every person who walked through the door to make a blood donation," said Janet Lewis, executive director of the Red Cross of Wyoming. "We're thrilled to have another drive at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to allow Wyomingites from across the region to give lifesaving blood, especially during this period where blood supplies remain lower than normal. Your donations at this time help ensure that no patient that needs blood will go without it."
The simple act of donating blood can be the lifesaving gift that accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for cancer or sickle cell disease need the most. The Red Cross supplies more than 40% of the nation's blood supply through donations, helping make sure lifesaving blood is available where it is needed.
Book a time to give blood now by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Blood donors can save time at their next donation by using RapidPass® to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, before arriving at the blood drive. To get started, follow the instructions at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App.
