The American Red Cross depends on volunteers to accomplish the organization's mission: providing relief to victims of disasters and helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. American Red Cross volunteers are professionally and thoroughly trained to help you with your disaster and health & safety needs.
The Red Cross is currently seeking new volunteers for the following volunteer opportunities in Wyoming:
Respond to local emergencies during evenings and weekends in Wyoming (such as home fires) to provide immediate Red Cross direct client assistance including shelter/hotel, food, clothing and comfort kits. Work in teams of two or more volunteers. Training provided. May include overnight, weekend and holiday shifts.
Volunteer at a Red Cross emergency shelter in Wyoming during a local disaster. Help provide emergency shelter to local residents displaced wildfires, floods, tornadoes or other disasters including weather-related interstate closures. Training provided. Depending upon experience, training, interest and availability, may deploy to larger regional and national large-scale disasters.
Health and mental health professionals licensed by the State of Wyoming assist the Red Cross with on-call health and mental health referrals during emergencies or disasters in Wyoming. Training provided. Depending upon experience, training, interest and availability, may deploy to larger regional and national large-scale disasters.
Help inform the public and tell the Red Cross story. As part of a communications team, write and submit news releases, respond to local media inquiries, monitor and update Red Cross social media, take photos and write articles for the Web site. Training provided. Phone and internet access required. Basic public affairs and photography skills preferred.
Serve as an adult mentor and recruiter for Red Cross youth clubs in Wyoming. Mentor youth members and coordinate Red Cross activities in your local area. Experience working with youth preferred. Training provided.
