The American Red Cross National Youth Council (NYC) is composed of 16 young leaders who represent and serve Red Cross youth and young adult volunteers across the country. Leveraging the creativity, energy, and commitment of young people, the Council amplifies youth voices, fosters meaningful engagement, and champions youth volunteers as a powerful force for advancing the Red Cross mission.

Specifically, the National Youth Council:

• advocates for youth volunteer involvement at the national and chapter levels
• advises national and chapter leadership on policies concerning youth volunteers
• connects youth volunteers through a Facebook group and YouthWire: a Red Cross Youth Newsletter
• writes and publishes news and stories important to youth volunteers
• plans the annual National Youth Involvement Month in November
• raises funds to further the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross through the annual Giving Day Campaign
• recognizes outstanding youth volunteers through the Youth Spotlight program and the granting of the Navin Narayan College Scholarship
• works with the National Collegiate Assembly to increase youth involvement at the college level
• coordinates the Youth and Young Adult Ambassador Program
• and much more!

In recognition of its work, the National Youth Council has been presented with numerous awards, including the 2007 Together for Humanity Award, given by the International Federation of Red Cross and international Red Crescent Societies.
