ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The American Red Cross of Alaska is thrilled to announce Bryce Sitter as its new Regional Chief Executive Officer, effective April 27, 2026.
Sitter joined the American Red Cross in 2006 and joins the Alaska Region after serving as the Regional Chief Development Officer in the Idaho, Montana, and East Oregon Region where he was recognized twice as a Divisional Fundraiser of the Year. Sitter holds a master’s degree in Humanitarian Leadership and spent a decade in East Africa, designing and implementing projects related to food security, health and community lending, collaborating with the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Kenyan Red Cross and the Tanzanian Red Cross. Over the course of his career, Sitter had the opportunity to work alongside two Nobel Peace Prize winners and spent three years working with the famed Maasai tribe.
As the Regional Chief Development Officer in the Idaho, Montana, and East Oregon Region, Sitter brings a proven track record of strengthening donor engagement, expanding partnerships, and driving sustainable growth. In his new role, he plans to leverage these strengths to enhance the Alaska Region’s capacity, support volunteers and staff, and ensure the organization remains prepared to respond to increasingly complex disasters while continuing to meet every day humanitarian needs.
The Alaska Region of the American Red Cross serves more than 740,000 residents across one‑fifth of the nation’s geography, delivering critical services ranging from disaster relief and preparedness to health and safety training, and support to military members and their families. Operating in some of the most remote and logistically challenging environments in the country, the Alaska Region relies on strong community partnerships, dedicated volunteers, and adaptive leadership to ensure help can reach people wherever and whenever it is needed.
“I am honored to serve the Alaska Region and to work alongside such dedicated staff, volunteers, and partners,” said Sitter. “Alaska’s communities are resilient, generous, and deeply connected. My goal is to build that on that strength and invest in local relationships, expand access to Red Cross services and ensure we are ready to respond to emergencies while supporting families every single day. Together, we will continue to adapt, grow, and deliver on the Red Cross mission across this extraordinary state.”
Sitter’s vision focuses on strengthening community resilience, cross cultural relations with Alaska’s tribal entities, deepening statewide partnerships, and ensuring equitable access to lifesaving services, while positioning the Alaska Region for long‑term sustainability and continued impact.
As part of this leadership transition, the Red Cross also celebrates the remarkable career of
Tanguy Libbrecht, who retires after 13 years of dedicated service. Tanguy departed the region in early 2026 and we congratulate him on this well-deserved retirement.
