Maribel Paulino has many titles: mom, military spouse, certified EMT, 14-year Red Cross volunteer, and now a National Lifesaving Award Recipient. While attending a Red Cross conference, Maribel saved a person experiencing a medical emergency.
News Story: Red Cross provides communities impacted by Typhoon Merbok with clean water
When Typhoon Merbok struck Alaska in 2022, many villages and communities were left without drinking water. The Red Cross recently partnered with Kawerak Inc. to provide water purification units to homes and businesses in several impacted villages.

After partnering with the Alaska Fisher House on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, the Red Cross presented them with a tractor and snow plow attachment to keep their sidewalks and parking lot safe for military families receiving medical treatments.

The Alaska Red Cross headquarters in Anchorage received funding to complete a much-needed office refresh. With new carpet, paint, office furniture, and an outdoor sign, staff are excited to debut an inviting space for volunteers and clients.

Post: Red Cross team installed more than 300 smoke alarms in Utqiagvik
Volunteers worked day and night to install more than 300 smoke alarms in just a few days in the nation's northernmost village. Utqiagvik welcomed four Red Cross volunteers who aimed to help make their community safer through home fire education.

Five students graduated this September, earning certificates to become Dental Assistants through a free program offered by the Red Cross. Military veterans, spouses, or dependants qualify for this free annual SAF training program.
