Maribel Paulino has many titles: mom, military spouse, certified EMT, 14-year Red Cross volunteer, and now a National Lifesaving Award Recipient. While attending a Red Cross conference, Maribel saved a person experiencing a medical emergency.

When Typhoon Merbok struck Alaska in 2022, many villages and communities were left without drinking water. The Red Cross recently partnered with Kawerak Inc. to provide water purification units to homes and businesses in several impacted villages.

After partnering with the Alaska Fisher House on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, the Red Cross presented them with a tractor and snow plow attachment to keep their sidewalks and parking lot safe for military families receiving medical treatments.

The Alaska Red Cross headquarters in Anchorage received funding to complete a much-needed office refresh. With new carpet, paint, office furniture, and an outdoor sign, staff are excited to debut an inviting space for volunteers and clients.

Red Cross volunteers, community partners, the North Pole Fire Department, and donors are on Santa's nice list this year after installing over 100 smoke alarms in North Pole during this year's Sound the Alarm Campaign.

Ten outstanding Alaskans were honored at the 24th annual Real Heroes of Alaska Award Ceremony. From rescuing sheep hunters stranded on a cliff to saving neighbors from a home fire, these heroic stories were nothing short of incredible.

Exactly one year to the day after floods devastated Juneau, the Mendenhall River flooded again, causing damage to many homes. The Red Cross responded and worked to bring comfort and help create resiliency in the wake of the increasing pace of disasters.

Heather Pritchard is not the usual Red Cross volunteer. A long-time global traveler, Pritchard joined the Alaska team as an AmeriCorps member based out of Fairbanks. Heather used her skills and enthusiasm to educate youth and promote preparedness.

Volunteers worked day and night to install more than 300 smoke alarms in just a few days in the nation's northernmost village. Utqiagvik welcomed four Red Cross volunteers who aimed to help make their community safer through home fire education.

Five students graduated this September, earning certificates to become Dental Assistants through a free program offered by the Red Cross. Military veterans, spouses, or dependants qualify for this free annual SAF training program.

Volunteers visited Kake, a small island community in Southeast Alaska, to install smoke alarms and conduct community outreach at the annual Dog Salmon Festival. The Red Cross of Alaska has never had a presence in village of Kake until this project.
