American Red Cross Volunteer Natasha Strauss represents the future of volunteerism, bringing hope, energy and a deep sense of humanity to everything she does.

Natasha became a Red Cross volunteer in April 2025 while she was a Volcano Vista High School High School junior. After graduating in May, she has continued to support all lines of Red Cross service with enthusiasm and care.

With working a part-time job and being an active member of the Civil Air Patrol, Natasha has a demanding schedule. Yet she chooses to continue to give her time and energy to the Red Cross.

She has assisted with countless projects, including creating impactful fire safety educational materials for Sound the Alarm events, helping ensure families are better prepared and safer. In the office, she is a steady and reliable presence, supporting Volunteer Services with ongoing administrative needs and lending her skills to a wide range of efforts.

Because of her extraordinary volunteer work, Natasha was recently honored with the Youth and Young Adult Award from the Red Cross New Mexico Chapter.

“I enjoy contributing to a greater cause. A lot of the people I work with in the office deploy to help with the wildfire and flash flood efforts around the state, so I am happy to take any busy work out of their hands, ” Natasha said.

She also works closely with the Executive Director on special projects, demonstrating maturity, initiative and a genuine commitment to the mission.

Natasha inspires others with her compassion, positivity and willingness to serve, reflecting the very best of the Red Cross spirit.

“I encourage anyone that wants to help their community and gain a second family to volunteer,” she said.
