SONORA, CA (April 5, 2024) — The American Red Cross is opening an emergency shelter at the Tuolumne County Enrichment Center, 101 Hospital Rd, Sonora, CA, 95370. The shelter will open in response to a power outage impacting 5,000 homes.
Temperatures in the area are forecast to be below freezing overnight.
Everyone is welcome at Red Cross shelters, including those with service animals. The Red Cross delivers help to anyone regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or citizenship status. Our shelters provide visitors with a place to sleep, meals, beverages, snacks, comfort and care.
If possible, people who stay in a Red Cross shelter should bring prescription medications, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, other comfort items and important documents. It is also recommended to bring special items for children such as diapers, formula and toys.
