Jessica Trocchi Graziano’s commitment to service didn’t begin in a boardroom — it began at home. Shaped by family, community and years of experience as a financial executive, she brings a practical, people-centered approach to her work. Today, she serves on the American Red Cross National Board of Governors with a strong sense of responsibility and respect for the organization’s role in communities across the country.
Born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut, Jess fondly remembers working in her family’s pizza restaurant alongside her parents, siblings and relatives. Those early experiences instilled a strong sense of responsibility and care for the people around her. While her career eventually led her into executive leadership in finance, her connection to community service never faded.
Answering the Call to Serve
In 2024, Jess was approached about joining the Red Cross National Board of Governors. While her professional experience opened the door, it was the mission that ultimately inspired her to say yes.
“My inspiration comes from the mission, and I see that mission as close as my backyard,” she said. “It’s extraordinary when you think about how broad our touch is. People know and trust who we are, and that is very important.”
As she spent more time learning about the organization, Jess began to see what makes the Red Cross stand apart. “The Red Cross operates with purpose,” she said. “It meets people where they are, during moments that truly matter.”
Jess’s connection to the Red Cross has developed over time through her own experiences. As a high school senior, she helped organize a Red Cross blood drive, gaining an early appreciation for the impact of volunteering. Years later, as a parent, she reconnected with the organization through lifeguarding and CPR training linked to her daughter’s competitive swimming.
But it was learning more about the organization’s work responding to local home fires — while also proactively preventing disasters through education and smoke alarm installations — that left a lasting impression. “It’s the combination of large-scale impact and local service that makes this mission feel so personal,” she said.
A Family Commitment to Service
That personal connection has grown into continued engagement across her family. Jess’s husband, Joe, has become actively involved in the region through Service to the Armed Forces. A licensed mental health professional, Joe volunteers with the Red Cross to support service members stationed at Naval Submarine Base in New London. He facilitates workshops focused on protecting mental health during deployment or periods of separation from loved ones. He is also a blood donor.
Jess’s commitment to service extends to her sisters, Miriam Redgate and Vania Guerrera, who have joined the Tiffany Circle alongside her in Connecticut, supporting the Red Cross through philanthropy, leadership, and engagement. Her daughters, Olivia and Mia, are also exploring ways to get involved that align with their interests and passions.
“It’s become a shared experience for us,” Jess reflected. “The Red Cross offers so many ways to serve, and everyone can find something that speaks to them. Sharing it with my sisters feels special. It’s like built‑in best friends who go to the meetings with you!”
Recognizing Those Who Serve
As a member of the National Board of Governors, Jess carries a profound sense of responsibility and gratitude for the volunteers and supporters who advance the Red Cross’s lifesaving work every day.
“I want to say thank you,” she said. “Without you, this mission wouldn’t be possible. Thank you to those who give their time, their love, and their everything.”
She also emphasizes the importance of caring for those who serve.
“Please take care of yourselves as you continue providing services to those in need,” Jess added. “We are only as strong as the people delivering this mission, and I encourage everyone to care for themselves as they help bring the Red Cross mission to life.”
