As fall routines shift and schedules get busier, blood donations often decline, leading to fewer available products for patients. The American Red Cross urges donors not to wait to make a lifesaving impact this season by scheduling a blood or platelet donation appointment in September. 

Just one hour of time could help patients spend more time with people they love in the weeks ahead. Community members are encouraged to make an appointment to donate at the upcoming Sullivan American Legion Blood Drive in Honor of Riley Macminn. 

Riley Macminn is a remarkably strong boy whose courage and bright spirit inspire everyone who meets him. In March 2026, Riley survived an accident that left him fighting for his life. Throughout his emergency care, blood was prepared for him at every step, providing his family immense comfort, even though he ultimately did not need a transfusion. Now, his family is hosting a blood drive to pay that gift forward and help ensure lifesaving blood is available for other patients.  

Join the Macminn family to honor Riley’s resilience and give hope to others.
