American Red Cross volunteers responded to home fires in Rockford and Rock Falls in the past week and provided assistance to 4 people by supplying them with items to meet immediate needs after a fire, and additional support in the form of health and mental health services and one-on-one support.

Disaster Action Team Volunteers Needed On the frontlines of the climate crisis, the American Red Cross is supporting communities and families who are struggling to cope with more frequent and intense disasters across the state and country. In 2023 alone, the U.S. experienced an all-time high of 28 billion-dollar plus disasters that ravaged communities and forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee from severe storms, floods and wildfires. Most recently, Red Cross volunteers have assisted hundreds of people affected by flooding, tornadoes, and severe weather all the while responding to single family and multi-family home fires.
Communities across the state count on the Red Cross to be there and volunteers are needed to help families devastated by disasters. Ninety percent of our workforce are volunteers, inspired to give back. Join us and help turn tragedy into hope. Visit RedCross.org/Volunteer.
