The American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois today announced the appointment of Jim Carris, Senior Managing Director of CBRE’s market-leading Chicago region, to the organization’s Board of Directors for the greater Chicago and northern Illinois region. Carris is a resident of Lake Forest, Illinois.
“Jim Carris has extensive knowledge of corporate leadership and legal affairs through decades of working for top performing companies that will to help guide the strategic direction of our humanitarian services and programs in the community,” said Celena Roldán, Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois.
Carris brings nearly 30 years of experience to CBRE where he sits on the Executive Committee charged with driving the firm’s overall regional operations and business strategy. In addition, Carris has direct oversight for the firm’s downtown Chicago Office Agency Leasing business as well as the local Debt & Structured Finance, Global Workplace Solutions Transaction Management, and National Economic Incentives practice groups. He is also co-leader of the market’s Occupier & Transactions Services group, where he draws from his experience in real estate brokerage and portfolio management.
Prior to joining CBRE in 2011, Carris was a Senior Vice President at Jones Lang LaSalle, held leadership positions at BP, and also served as a practicing attorney with the Amoco Oil Company and Homart Development Company. Carris earned his Executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame and his juris doctorate from Loyola University of Chicago. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.
The volunteer Board includes more than 30 civic and corporate leaders from a range of professional backgrounds for the region that serves 9.5 million people in 21 counties in northern Illinois.
