The American Red Cross of Illinois is pleased to announce the addition of three new members to the Board of Directors for the Illinois River Valley Chapter: Jim Mallon, Erin Webster O’Brien, and Josh Hassert. Each brings a wealth of professional expertise, community involvement, and a shared commitment to advancing the Red Cross mission of helping people in times of need.
Jim Mallon is the Public and Government Affairs Manager at the ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery. In this role, he leads community engagement and government relations for one of the region’s largest employers. Prior to this, he served as a Market Developer for the ExxonMobil Catalysts and Licensing business, managing marketing activities and strategic partnerships. His career has also included commercial roles with BP and INEOS, as well as engineering and technical sales positions in the metals processing industry. Mallon holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from Northwestern University. He and his family reside in the area, where he enjoys supporting his son’s athletic pursuits and spending time with extended family in Michigan.
Erin Webster O’Brien is an accomplished attorney and owner of Erin Webster O’Brien, P.C., a Joliet-based law firm concentrating in family law. A graduate of Lewis University and DePaul University College of Law, O’Brien has built a respected career as both a litigator and a certified divorce mediator. She has served in leadership roles within the legal community, including as President of the Will County Bar Association, and is an active member of the Will County Women’s Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association. Recognized multiple times as a Top 40 Lawyer Under 40 by the American Society of Legal Advocates, O’Brien’s practice and community involvement reflect her dedication to fairness, collaboration, and compassionate advocacy.
Josh Hassert joins the Board as Josh the President of Brent Hassert Consulting, a government affairs and lobbying firm that represents both municipal and corporate clients. Prior to that, he served as a policy and communications analyst for the Illinois House of Representatives and worked as the operations manager for a family landscaping business. A lifelong resident of Will County, Josh attended Joliet Junior College.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jim, Erin, and Josh to our Board of Directors,” said Laura Muriello, Executive Director of the Illinois River Valley Chapter. “Their professional experience and passion for community service will be instrumental as we continue to deliver lifesaving Red Cross services across the region.”
