Every second counts in an emergency, so people need to know what to do until medical help arrives. For this reason, the Southwest Chapter of the American Red Cross Indiana Region is partnering with the Evansville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., to teach a Free Hands-Only CPR class on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
In addition, Red Cross Team members will conduct a session to teach children how to prevent and stay safe from emergencies, including home fire safety. Those in attendance will also be able to sign up for a free home smoke alarm installation. This is part of our Home Fire Campaign, which was launched in 2014 to help save lives across the country by installing free smoke alarms and helping families create escape plans. Since the campaign inception, we have helped save more than 2,000 lives.

Why Learn Hands-Only CPR?
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time, often without warning. Having life-saving skills and training can go a long way to keeping your loved ones safe in the event of cardiac arrest, as every minute that defibrillation is delayed, the person’s chance of survival is reduced by 10%.
