At this event, we will have the honor of recognizing ordinary people who do extraordinary things within our community. Each honoree has their own incredible story of strength, compassion and heroism. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the lifesaving achievements of everyday heroes in our community. Sponsorships will support the vital mission of the Red Cross serving Kansas, helping ensure that we are there when needed most during life’s emergencies.

Do you know someone who has done something extraordinary for someone else this year? Someone who has saved a life or responded courageously to a disaster? Now is your chance to honor them. The American Red Cross is seeking nominations for our 12th annual Heroes Awards. These heroes will be recognized during a special Tribute to Heroes Breakfast on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
Every day people make extraordinary contributions by putting their needs aside to help others in our community. The American Red Cross is honored to salute these unsung heroes. Your hero might be a lifeguard who saved a drowning child, a citizen who performed CPR at a shopping mall, or a friend who saved a neighbor’s beloved pets from a fire.
The Red Cross will recognize heroes in the State of Kansas in these categories:
Lifetime Hero - presented to an individual who inspires others by their example. This individual has overcome hardship, risen above challenges, or dedicated their life to serving others.
Gift of Life Hero – presented to an individual, couple, group or organization that supports the lifesaving mission through personal blood or platelet donations, or by inspiring others to give blood or platelets.
Call to Action Hero - presented to an individual who, by circumstances beyond their control, found themselves in a challenging situation and demonstrated extraordinary courage.
Disaster Relief Hero - presented to an individual or organization who has served an important role in disaster relief in our community.
Public Servant Hero - presented to an individual who, in the line of duty (police, fire, military, medical, etc., went above and beyond the call.
Nomination deadline is September 1, 2022.
Nominees must live in the State of Kansas and be able to attend The Tribute to Heroes Breakfast in Wichita, KS, on December 15, 2022.
Hero nominees, their nominators and/or the person who was saved must be available for videotaped interviews during October 2022.
