Five LSU Recreation Center student employees acted quickly to save the life of a fellow student when he collapsed while playing basketball. The team and instructor received Lifesaving Awards for using Red Cross Training Services skills to save his life.

Louisiana Red Crossers celebrated the residents of Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Home with a special event -Christmas in July. In true southern fashion, there was live music, dancing, food, new friends, giveaways and stories shared.

Red Cross volunteer Dr. Levon LeBan has now taught Disaster Spiritual Care Fundamentals in the easternmost and westernmost parts of the United States- and many places in between! During his 20+ deployments, he has supported many major disaster recoveries.

After dozens of twisters touched down across the state, Louisiana Red Cross responded to families impacted by the sudden destruction. Red Cross' compassionate response helped one family quickly obtain lifesaving medication that was lost in the storm.

Chandler Morgan, a Louisiana Red Crosser and Deployed Site Lead on the Service to the Armed Forces team, embodies the “spirit of the Red Cross” while deployed to Eastern Europe. He oversees about a dozen programs that support soldiers and boost morale.

The Red Cross Community Adaptation Team in Terrebonne Parish focuses on enhancing local partnerships with nonprofits in health, hunger and housing to strengthen programs pre-disaster, and build resiliency in communities that are hardest hit by disasters.

Red Cross provided help and hope to families when unprecedented wildfires forced many to evacuate. When intense heat, low precipitation and high winds drove southwest Louisiana residents to quickly seek safety and shelter, the Red Cross was there to help.

The Red Cross carried out signature Sound the Alarm events in Baton Rouge and Kenner, where 552 free smoke alarms were installed, and 298 homes were made safer as volunteers encouraged residents to create a fire escape plan.

Red Cross volunteers supported first aid stations along New Orleans’ Mardi Gras parade routes. The city’s 30+ parades were made safer for revelers, thanks to the time and generosity of the volunteers. Red Cross says Laissez le bon temps rouler!

When a severe storm left nearly 200,000 Shreveport residents without power for days during an extreme heat wave, the Red Cross provided both shelters and cooling centers for community members.

American Red Cross and Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital collaborated to give youth volunteers the opportunity to learn new customer service skills, enhance resumes, make new friends, fulfill community service hours for school and have fun.
