BOSTON, June 17, 2026 — The American Red Cross recognizes National Grid, headquartered in Massachusetts, for its commitment to help communities get ready for emergencies and help after disasters. National Grid’s support of preparedness education and disaster financial assistance helps ensure the Red Cross is prepared to meet the needs of people affected by disasters big and small — including storms, home fires and countless other crises — whenever and wherever they occur.
“The Red Cross is relying on generous partners like National Grid to help deliver our mission now more important than ever,” said Holly Grant, regional CEO of the American Red Cross of Massachusetts. “We are extremely grateful for these donors who ensure we stand ready to help people in their darkest hours, whenever and wherever we’re needed most.”
The Red Cross responds to more than 60,000 disasters across the country every year, providing relief, comfort and hope to people during what can be the worst days of their lives. Financial assistance is essential in empowering those affected by disasters to cover their most pressing expenses — whether it’s urgent needs like clothing and transportation or longer-term essentials like home repairs — this aid is a vital step in helping people move forward. The Red Cross has expanded financial assistance to support survivors immediately, and in the weeks and months following a disaster. Over the past year, the Red Cross has provided more than 4,800 people across Massachusetts with critical financial assistance.
About 550 people nationwide take part in Red Cross disaster preparedness sessions each day. With support from National Grid, the American Red Cross is expanding preparedness education in Massachusetts, helping ensure more community members are ready to act in a cardiac emergency. Over the past year, more than 1,000 people have taken part in Hands-Only CPR training, empowering everyday bystanders to save lives by placing help just steps away when it matters most. With more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occurring outside of hospitals each year nationwide, having people trained in Hands-Only CPR significantly increases a victim’s chance of survival.
“Safety is a top priority at National Grid, and we are grateful to partner with the American Red Cross in our shared commitment to caring for the communities we serve,” said Dr. Robert Simmons III, Vice President Social Impact and Community Engagement, National Grid U.S. “Through Grid for Good we are committed to helping families meet their energy needs, expanding access to skills and jobs, and building resilient communities. Through our partnership we are supporting families and communities in times of need and in every-day life.”
