Nearly every eight minutes in this country a family has lost everything to a home fire.
The American Red Cross is asking people in Minnesota to remember those families impacted by disaster and to #help1family on Giving Day, Wednesday, April 26. Your donation can provide hope and urgent relief such as food, blankets and other essentials to people who need it most.
“Nearly every eight minutes in this country there is a family that has lost everything to a home fire or other disaster, says Phil Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Minnesota Region. This one-day nationwide event will raise funds to ensure the Red Cross is able to meet the critical mission of helping those families who have been affected by emergencies.”
Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising campaign supporting the work of the Red Cross, helping people in communities across our region each and every day in need of emergency support.
During 2016 in Minnesota, the Red Cross provided relief at 470 disasters and helped 1,011 families with disaster relief and recovery. In addition, as part of the Home Fire Campaign, the Red Cross and its partners have since 2014, the start of the campaign, installed more than 6,600 free smoke alarms in communities across Minnesota and part of western Wisconsin, helping to reduce home fire-related injuries and deaths. Public support of the American Red Cross Giving Day is a promise of better days ahead for those in our community who have lost everything. Please consider donating to the Red Cross at givingday.redcross.org/region/minnesota on April 26.
