More than $39,000 donated to the Red Cross on February 14
We'd like to thank everyone who was a Giving Heart for local non-profits on Giving Hearts Day 2019. It's heartwarming to see the community come together in such a big way!
Giving Hearts Day is the biggest 24-hour online giving event in North Dakota and Northwestern Minnesota. On February 14, 2019, more than $16.2 million was raised for local charities. This year, more than $39,000 was raised through donations and matching funds for the Dakotas Region of the American Red Cross and we are extremely grateful!
In FY18, the American Red Cross responded to more than 400 local disasters, helping more than 2,300 people across the Dakotas Region. Majority of these responses were home fires. We also made over 1,200 homes safer by installing more than 4,000 free smoke alarms for our neighbors. Money raised on Giving Hearts Day this year will go toward ongoing home fire preparedness, response and recovery efforts.
You can help us continue critical disaster relief and preparedness services with a gift big or small:
Your gifts on Thursday, February 14 will truly make a difference to neighbors in need! You can donate anytime to your local Red Cross chapter here.
What is a Giving Heart? Anyone who helps: volunteers, donors, clients, friends and people who spread our message. If you are in support of helping others, you are a Giving Heart.
