Every year, three chapters - Greater Cleveland, Lake to River, and Summit, Portage and Medina - in American Red Cross of Northeast Ohio region honor individuals who reside or work within the 10 counties they serve, and who performed heroic acts of extraordinary courage to become someone’s hero. These are ordinary people who put themselves in harm’s way or have even risked their own lives to save another.
Do you know a community member who entered a burning home to rescue a trapped family? A passerby who pulled a drowning child to safety? A neighbor who administered CPR or abdominal thrusts to a total stranger? A dog that alerted its family to a fire?
If you do, then we need your help identifying these local heroes!
Please submit the information about the person or persons you’d like to nominate by completing the nomination form for your Chapter’s Heroes or Acts of Courage event.
Nominees must live or work in the counties served by the host chapter. The year in which the event happened will determine eligibility for each chapter's event. The deadline for all chapters is December 31, 2019.
All submissions will be reviewed by local selection committees. All selected nominees will be honored at an award ceremony hosted by the local chapter in which the event took place.
