Originally from California, 15-year-old Alisha Sharma moved to Texas and already has become an important voice within the Central & South Texas Region, bringing creativity, curiosity and enthusiasm to every project she takes on. She is a Youth Public Affairs Volunteer and a proud “map swiper,” contributing to the American Red Cross through communications and digital mapping efforts.
Alisha became a volunteer because she felt a strong alignment with the Red Cross mission and values. Her favorite Red Cross memory comes from map-swiping map-a-thons. This is her favorite because not only is it enjoyable and fun, but also because she also gets the chance to meet new people. Through her volunteer work, Alisha also has gained a deeper understanding of maps and geographic tools, skills that will serve well far into her career.
When encouraging others to volunteer, Alisha’s message is simple: “It’s a great opportunity to give back into the world in your own way. It’s free to volunteer, and it feels good to do something nice for your community.”
Thank you, Alisha! Your enthusiasm brings energy to our team and we can’t wait to see all the incredible things you accomplish, both with the Red Cross and beyond.
