Help families affected by disaster by donating
DALLAS (April 20, 2017) - The American Red Cross of North Texas is encouraging our neighbors across the region to remember families affected by disaster by participating in Red Cross Giving Day April 26, 2017. Donations can provide urgent relief to people who need it most. The Red Cross will be on hand at and hosting several events across the DFW Metroplex over the next 10 days. A complete list is below.
Giving Day (#help1family) is a 24-hour fundraising campaign supporting the work of the Red Cross and helping people across the country in need of emergency support. On average, the Red Cross of North Texas responds to a disaster, primarily home fires, every six minutes. For more information and to donate, click here.
As part of its ongoing Home Fire Preparedness Campaign, the Red Cross of North Texas will install smoke alarms across the region. Among others, the Red Cross is partnering with the Benbrook Fire Department to install smoke alarms on April 29 after the community was affected last month by a destructive apartment fire that claimed one life and injured several others. See below for more information and to register to volunteer.
The Red Cross would be unable to serve its lifesaving mission without the dedication of volunteers and next week will celebrate its more than 5,000 Metroplex volunteers during National Volunteer Week.
On average, Red Cross volunteers serve 9 million people in 121 North Texas counties across all lines of service including disaster relief, Service to the Armed Forces, biomedical services, international services and preparedness health and safety services.
Members of the community are asked to consider a gift of time, money or blood next week and beyond. For more information on Giving Day, click here.
