(April 6, 2017) - The American Red Cross Serving North Texas announced today funding on two major initiatives thanks to a significant donation from Energy Transfer Partners. The $395,000 donation includes $100,000 toward the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign and $295,000 for the purchase of a new bloodmobile. This funding also helps support many other lines of Red Cross operations including disaster relief. A check presentation will be held on Thursday, April 6th at 10:30 a.m. at the Energy Transfer Partners headquarters at 8111 Westchester Drive in Dallas followed by a company-wide blood drive.
Energy Transfer Partners is a national sponsor of the Home Fire Campaign during the month of April. Launched in 2014, the Home Fire Campaign’s mission is to reduce fire-related injuries and deaths in the United States through preparedness education and free smoke alarm installations. To date, the Home Fire Campaign has helped save at least 197 lives and has installed more than 700,000 smoke alarms nationwide. For more information, click here.
The donation of $295,000 for the Red Cross to purchase a bloodmobile for the North Texas region will help expand opportunities for volunteer blood donors to roll up a sleeve and give for patients in need. The bloodmobile is needed in North Texas where the majority of lifesaving blood used is imported into the region. Adding this new bloodmobile to the fleet will help save thousands of lives a year. Additional funds for the bloodmobile, which is expected to be in service within 6-12 months, were donated by the Moody Foundation.
“As a longtime partner of the American Red Cross, Energy Transfer Partners supports the organization’s mission across its lines of service,” said Keith Rhodes, CEO of the American Red Cross North Texas. “In North Texas, we are especially thankful for the significant gift that will put a new bloodmobile on the ground and will increase our capability of collecting lifesaving blood across the region. We appreciate that Energy Transfer Partners also understands the important work we continue to do to educate families on the importance of fire safety nationwide.”
Since the partnership began nearly six years ago, Energy Transfer Partners has given more than $1.2 million to support Red Cross programs and initiatives with these most recent gifts included.
“The American Red Cross is an amazing organization that is able to make a difference in so many peoples’ lives through its many initiatives all over the country,” said Kelcy Warren, CEO of Energy Transfer Partners. “Energy Transfer Partners and its employees are proud to continue our partnership with the American Red Cross, helping save lives and at the same time giving back to the communities where we work, live and do business.”
