Red Cross Awards National Honors to Four Individuals for Saving a Man’s Life in Church
Jennifer Fenendael, Keri Hicks, Kurt Hicks, and Claduette Tipton received the American Red Cross Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action for the heroic actions they exhibited in saving the life of Wayne Strei. While performing at a spring cantata at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wayne had a medical emergency which caused him to become unresponsive.
Red Cross Lends a Hand to the Residents of the Sherman Gardens Apartments Fire
Shelby Watson, Darryl Bailey and Troy Love all lived in the same three-story building at Sherman Gardens and over time had become good friends. Unfortunately, each was among those who lost their homes during a recent apartment fire. Immediately afterward, the three neighbors opted to stay at a Red Cross shelter.
Red Cross Recognizes Three Lifeguards from Michigan Technological University
On June 26, 2022, Leah Komarzec from Painesdale, Skyler Spitzley, from Ovid and Brett Ceane from Houghton, called on their American Red Cross training in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED to save the life of an individual experiencing a cardiac complication at the Michigan Technological University Student Development Complex Pool. The victim survived thanks to the quick actions of the team!
