The American Red Cross is helping the people affected by Hurricane Irma. Thank you for your interest and willingness to volunteer and help with these efforts. We anticipate needing volunteers to support this effort for months to come.

What can Volunteers Expect to Do?

There are a variety of needs during a disaster response. Typical volunteer opportunities include:

  • Helping our shelters serve the community
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Serve food
  • Provide comfort
  • Welcome, onboard and engaging volunteers
  • Help set up facilities
  • We also need volunteers who have supervisory experience and are available for 14 day assignments.

    Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (with parental consent)
  • Expected to work shifts from 6-12 hours a day
  • Authorize background check after completing application
