Every day, the American Red Cross provides critical support to more than 25,000 people facing emergencies. Whether it’s disaster relief, service to our volunteers, or aid to military families, our work is made possible by this compassionate community.
Thanks to generous donations, we were there for people in their time of need this year. Families like Ally Shangin, her partner and their four daughters. Ally and her family were evacuated from their home in Kipnuk after the remnants of Typhoon Halong devastated their village. “I was so scared. Our girls were scared. I’m just happy we’re safe,” Ally said, recounting her harrowing experience. Ally, Garrett, and their children are stayed at the Red Cross shelter at the Egan Center in downtown Anchorage.
This holiday season, we’re honored to once again join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a charity partner in their Light the World Giving Machines initiative – which offers a unique and meaningful way to give back. By visiting the Giving Machine at the Santa Claus House (101 St Nicholas Dr., North Pole, AK 99705) from November 19 – Dec 10 or The Midtown Mall (600 E Northern Lights Blvd Anchorage, Alaska 99503) from December 12- Dec 31, you can donate essential items like hot meals, shelter and infant care kits for families affected by disasters and vaccinations for children around the world. Your donations come directly to the Red Cross to support people in need.
