SACRAMENTO, CA (February 28, 2023) - Gary Strong has announced his retirement from the American Red Cross after serving more than seven-and-a-half years as Regional Executive of the organization’s California Gold Country Region.
Prior to his time as Regional CEO, Strong was a member of the Board of Directors of Red Cross chapters for two decades.
“This is an organization that I love. I will be forever grateful for my association,” said Strong. “I will remain a Red Crosser for life.”
The California Gold Country Region will celebrate Gary’s decades of dedication to the American Red Cross at The Red Cross BASH at Sutter Health Park on March 30, 2023. The BASH is an annual event during Red Cross Month to celebrate the humanitarian spirit that inspires compassionate people to step up to help when help can’t wait. The event will serve as an opportunity for Red Cross board, staff and volunteers and the entire community to thank Gary for leading and living the Red Cross mission.
Sean Mahoney, Chief Executive for the Southern California Region of the Red Cross, will serve as California Gold Country’s Interim Chief Executive until a permanent replacement is found.
