SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND STAMFORD, CT (November 6, 2023) – The American Red Cross is honored to announce that BlueTriton Brands' ongoing in-kind donation of Arrowhead® 100% Mountain Spring Water to Red Cross blood drives and blood donation centers has reached more than 264,000 blood donors who have donated more than one million blood products (whole blood, plasma and platelets) in Southern California.
Since 2018, the Arrowhead Brand® has been keeping donors hydrated at over 22,000 blood drives in Southern California and reached more than 260,000 blood donors. “We’ve been proud members of the Southern California community for over 125 years. Our partnership with the Red Cross allows us to provide free water to those donating blood,” said Pegah Hazrati, Regional Vice President at BlueTriton Brands, West Region. “Someone in the U.S. needs lifesaving blood every two seconds and supporting blood donations is an incredible feat that lets us know we’re making a difference in residents’ lives.”
“Whether it is a personal emergency or a community-wide crisis, patients across America rely on blood that is readily available on hospital shelves. Many lifesaving medical treatments like chemotherapy, organ transplants and trauma surgeries rely on reliable blood products,” said Sean Mahoney, Regional CEO with the Red Cross Southern California Region. “The Red Cross is grateful for BlueTriton Brands’ commitment to supporting blood donors. Following a blood donation, drinking fluids such as water and eating snacks provides a vital role in providing nourishment to blood donors and helping reenergize them.”
BlueTriton Brands’ in-kind contributions allow the Red Cross to focus resources on essential services, such as increasing donor recruitment, including donors with rare blood types, expanding blood drive locations, and maintaining technology which aids in blood collection, testing, storing and delivering products to hospitals in order to meet the needs of Southern California’s communities.
