A 23-year veteran with the American Red Cross, Helen has significantly touched many lives in her many roles. In FY 2024, Helen received the new Regional Pinnacle Award, given to those volunteers who have amassed more than 5,000 lifetime hours with the Red Cross. At that time, Helen had accumulated over 5,700 hours with the Red Cross, and is currently sitting at over 9,000 hours, to include 1,500 hours assigned to Disaster Relief Operations.
Helen is a dedicated and knowledgeable Disaster Cycle Services volunteer, having or currently held positions spanning from response, to training and education, to engagement, to appreciation and recognition. Her most recent activities in Kentucky on the disaster responses to the winter and spring flooding earlier this year have solidified her position as a staple for the Kentucky Region. During the spring floods, she served in government operations with the state emergency operations center in Frankfort. Prior to the disaster responses within the KY Region, Helen deployed for three weeks to the California Wildfires to help with Staff Services, which involves coordinating, managing and supporting volunteers assisting with the disaster response.
