Disaster Action Team (Dispatcher and Responder): Be part of a team that provides immediate support and assistance to individuals and families who have been impacted by a local home fire or other local disasters.

Disaster Health Services: Use your professional skills as a licensed healthcare provider to assist Red Cross clients with replacing medically needed items lost in a local disaster. This work is usually done over the phone though volunteers may be requested in person for larger disasters. Qualified licenses include RN, LPN, LVN, EMT, Paramedic, MD, DO, PA, NP, and APRN.

Disaster Mental Health and Spiritual Care: Licensed Social Workers and Spiritual Care Professionals counsel Red Cross clients, staff and volunteers who are impacted by or assist during local disasters. This work is usually done over the phone though volunteers may be requested in person for larger disasters.

Disaster Shelter Volunteer: Assist with opening, staffing, and closing shelters in large-scale local disasters such as floods, tornados, or other occasions when people must evacuate their homes.

Deployment: You can provide any of these above disaster assistance positions anywhere in the US and its territories if you can devote two-to-three weeks at a time and putting in long hours with the Red Cross. The Red Cross would provide your travel, food, and accommodations.

Community Engagement and Preparedness: Work with external organizations to build capacity, coordinate activities, integrate expertise, and provide channels to reach all disaster affected communities, particularly in traditionally underserved populations.

Blood Drive Support: Engage donors at blood drives by greeting, registering, answering questions, providing information, and supporting them through the recovery process at the refreshments table. 

Hero Care Regional Family Contact Volunteer: Ensure military families' needs are met when faced with an emergency.

Resiliency Programs: Licensed Social Workers can help Service Members and their families transition through the many different phases of serving with the military.
