The American Red Cross is providing supplies and resources to support many communities across South Dakota experiencing flooding this spring. An emergency operations center is open at the Red Cross office in Rapid City and is being staffed by volunteers.
A Red Cross shelter remains open at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids for anyone in that area who has been displaced from their home. They can go to 701 Orleans Avenue in Dell Rapids, SD for a safe place to stay, food, water and information updates.
The Red Cross is also providing sheltering supplies to people on the Standing Rock, Cheyenne River, Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations. Additionally, our disaster teams are providing food, water and clean-up kits to the Pine Ridge Reservation. Volunteers made two deliveries of bottled water to Red Shirt Table - a community that's reportedly been without running water for more than a week.
The Red Cross is working with Tribal Leaders and emergency managers to support communities and will continue to provide assistance as needed. All Red Cross disaster assistance is free and available to all.
