Engage blood donors by greeting, registering, answering questions, providing information, and supporting them through the recovery process at the refreshments table. Volunteer at Red Cross Blood Donor Centers in Akron, Cleveland, Parma, Toledo, Westlake (Fall 2026) and Willoughby, Ohio, or select volunteer shifts close to home in your community at our mobile blood drives! Blood Transportation Specialist:
You will be the critical link between blood donors and blood recipients by transportation of blood collections and delivery of blood, platelets, or other blood products to hospitals in the community. *Note: Positions will vary based on location, Cuyahoga, Lucas, Mahoning/Trumbull, and Summit counties have an immediate need for Transportation Specialist volunteers.

Disaster Action Team:
Be a part of the team that responds to those affected by disasters such as home fires to provide immediate needs, such as temporary lodging, food, and personal care items by issuing a client assistance card.

Disaster Recovery Caseworker:
Guide those impacted by disasters on their path to recovery through Red Cross and community partner resources and support.

Deployment To a National Disaster Relief Operation: When hurricanes, wildfires, and other disasters strike, families are left without the basics-food, shelter, and comfort. You can be the one who helps them begin to recover. Deploy across the country to deliver shelter, supplies, and support when it’s needed most.

Disaster Health Services:
Use your licensed healthcare professional skills to meet the healthcare related needs of those impacted by disasters in the local community or on a disaster relief operation. *Note: Qualified licenses include RN, LPN, LVN, EMT, Paramedic, MD, DO, PA, NP, and APRN. CCE’s may be able available for completion of training courses with active engagement in health professional volunteer role.

Virtual Reconnection Workshop Facilitator:
Facilitate virtual workshops for resource groups, military, veterans and their families designed to teach communication and coping skills. *Note: Requires master’s level mental health degree.
 

Animal Visitation Program Volunteer:
Participation in in-person activities and/or performing work in a Red Cross facility. Provide trained and certified animals for visits in medical treatment facilities and other approved locations.

Red Cross Club Member:
Fulfill the core purpose of a Red Cross Club by developing and organizing at least three American Red Cross mission-driven activities during the school year that support local and national American Red Cross initiatives. You’ll help plan and implement projects that save lives, from blood drives to disaster preparedness education. Youth Mission Advocate:
Plan and implement at least one Red Cross activity to support the Red Cross mission and make a difference in your community.  
 

International Law Youth Action Campaign Advocate:
Supports the Regional Service to the Armed Forces department to raise awareness and promote the values of International Humanitarian Law in your community.
 

Youth Corps Blood Donor Ambassador:
Volunteers, ages 13-24, join the Red Cross as a Donor Ambassador volunteer, committing to volunteer service over the summer months or other school breaks. *Opportunity currently available seasonally, May-August.
 

Academic Service-Learning Volunteer:
Colleges and other academic programs partner with the Red Cross to foster an environment where students learn about themselves and the community by taking action through volunteer service. In Northern Ohio, AS-L volunteers support blood drives and Event Based volunteer opportunities, such as the Disaster Preparedness Home Fire Campaign.
