DALLAS, TX MARCH 21, 2022 — Cities across Dallas-Fort Worth will light up the night sky red, celebrating the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross, in honor of Red Cross Giving Day on Wednesday, March 23.
Community members and building partners taking part in the event will turn their exterior lights red, highlighting the work and commitment of the Red Cross supporting people and families in need through blood collection efforts and disaster response.
“We are really so excited to reignite the DFW metroplex for a second year in a row in honor of Giving Day and bringing light to all the hard work from Red Cross volunteers to help their communities. They truly do the greatest work and to have these building partners play a part in bringing attention to the Red Cross mission is very reassuring,” says Keith Rhodes, the Regional Executive for Red Cross of North Texas.
Iconic Dallas landmarks Bank of America Plaza, Omni Hotel and Reunion Tower(tentative) are participating. The AT&T Discovery District & Whitacre Tower, Comerica Tower, KPMG and One Arts Plaza will also illuminate the Dallas skyline red.
In Fort Worth, Sundance Square, the new City Hall and WRMC Tower in downtown are turning red. The Abrams St. Sculptures in downtown Arlington will be lit red. Legacy West and the Toyota campus in Plano are also taking part in the celebration.
March marks the 79th annual Red Cross Month, a national tradition started by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1943, he issued a proclamation honoring the commitment of the Red Cross and raising awareness of the organization and its humanitarian mission.
The hope that the Red Cross provides for people in need would not be possible without the care of our volunteers or the compassion of our donors. Visit What Is Giving Day 2022 | American Red Cross to find out how to get involved and
