TYLER, Texas — The American Red Cross is encouraging East Texans to roll up a sleeve and help save lives by donating blood at upcoming blood drives happening across the chapter this weekend.
As summer approaches, blood donations often decline while the need for blood remains constant. Those who come to give May 18-31 get an exclusive oversized Red Cross beach towel, while they last. Help save lives & start summer right!
Blood donors are essential to ensuring hospitals have lifesaving blood products patients rely on every day for emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments and chronic illnesses.
“Every blood donation is an opportunity to come together and support neighbors in need,” said Karen Holt. “When East Texans step up to give blood, they help strengthen our community and ensure lifesaving support is available for patients and families counting on it.”

About Sickle Cell
Red Cross sickle cell blood drives are designed to help meet the urgent and ongoing needs of patients living with sickle cell disease. This genetic blood disorder disproportionately affects Black and African American communities. Community-focused drives like this play a critical role in building a more diverse blood supply to better support patients.
Donors of all blood types are needed. Individuals who are feeling healthy and eligible to donate are encouraged to make an appointment.
