CAMARILLO (October 4, 2023) — Calling all cyclists! Registration is open for the upcoming 2023 Ride for the Red event presented by Kinecta!
Community members are invited to join the seventh annual Ride for the Red cycling event on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Red Cross Headquarters located at 836 Calle Plano in Camarillo. Proceeds from the event will benefit the local Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) Program.
Cyclists have several different registration options, as an individual or team, military status, and can choose from three ride routes 30, 65 and 100 miles, traversing through picturesque Ventura County with periodic rest stops. All routes will start and end at the Red Cross office in Camarillo where lunch and entertainment will be served. Registration also includes a commemorative 2023 event T-shirt and rider bag. Registration fees start at $75 and active duty and military veterans can ride for $10 with proof of service. Participants can register at redcross.org/rideforthered.
“The American Red Cross commitment to the military community never wavers,” said Tony Briggs, Regional Executive of the Central California Region. “Red Cross volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of our military families through emergency relief. Ride for the Red gives the community the opportunity to come together to raise support for the military, veterans and their families while enjoying one of our favorite events of the year.”
Event participants are also encouraged to reach out to friends, family and supporters to help raise additional funds for the Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) program. Register to ride, make a donation, or learn more about sponsorship opportunities by visiting redcross.org/rideforthered
The SAF workforce operates 24/7/365 to help service members, veterans and their families prepare for, cope with and respond to the challenges of military service. Last year, the Central California regional SAF team provided more than 6,750 services to military members, their families and veterans, and also reached over 3,100 service members through ‘Get To Know Us’ briefings for how to access Red Cross communications support during family emergencies.
The Red Cross is able to help local military families thanks to the generosity of donors who support the SAF program. Special thanks to General Presenting Sponsor Kinecta; Colonel Sponsor Ordway Sign Supply; Major Sponsors AeroVironment, DKKD Staffing and WRiiG; and Captain Sponsors Athens Services, Clif Bar and Jack in the Box.
