REDDING, CA (December 22, 2025) — The American Red Cross California Gold Country Region is opening an emergency shelter in Redding for those impacted by flooding caused by atmospheric river conditions in the area.

The shelter is located at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 2850 Foothill Blvd., Redding, CA., 96001.

Everyone is welcome at Red Cross shelters, including those with service animals. The Red Cross delivers help to anyone regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or citizenship status. Volunteers are onsite to provide visitors with a safe place to sleep, meals, beverages, snacks, comfort and care.

If possible, those who stay in a Red Cross shelter are encouraged to bring the following items to make their stay as comfortable as possible: prescription medications, extra clothing, pillows, hygiene supplies, or comfort items. It is also recommended to bring special items for children such as diapers, formula or toys.

Dangerous weather conditions are expected this week across much of Northern California, so the Red Cross urges people in impacted areas to remain vigilant, be prepared to evacuate and follow instructions from local authorities.
