OROVILLE, CA (November 21, 2025) — The American Red Cross California Gold Country Region is recruiting passionate people for critical volunteer roles in Butte County.

Among the high-priority positions the Red Cross seeks to fill is Disaster Action Team (DAT) member. DAT members are trained volunteers who respond to disasters within their chapter's jurisdiction. They provide immediate emergency services such as emergency food, clothing, and shelter assistance, and assist disaster victims in planning their immediate and long-term recovery.

DAT members are responsible for providing coverage twenty-four hours a day within their chapter's jurisdiction. The role requires a compassionate heart and a willingness to help neighbors in need. Free training is provided to equip volunteers with the necessary skills to handle emergencies promptly and effectively.

Anyone interested in a volunteer role with the Red Cross is invited to stop by an information session on Monday, November 24, at the African American Family & Cultural Center, 3300 Spencer Ave. Oroville CA, 95966 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
