Baltimore, MD (August 27, 2021) — This month, the American Red Cross of Central Maryland named its all volunteer Chapter Board of Directors for 2021-2022.
Jacqueline Brooks of Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP has been named the Board Chair following six years of service as a board member, most recently serving as Vice-Chair. Previously, Brooks has been involved with multiple Red Cross Chapter Board committees, including Diversity & Inclusion, Board Recruitment and Development, Philanthropy, and Building Mission Capacity.
“We are thrilled to see Jacqueline Brooks lend her leadership and expertise to our lifesaving Red Cross work, as the new Central Maryland Chapter Board Chair,” said Misty Bruce, Executive Director for the Red Cross of Central Maryland.
Encompassing Baltimore City and Baltimore, Harford and Carroll County, the Red Cross of Central Maryland serves 1.9 million people with the support and compassion of a robust volunteer base and a highly knowledgeable staff across all five lines of Red Cross service. This includes meeting the immediate needs of individuals and families impacted by emergencies and disasters. Last year, the Red Cross of Central Maryland helped more than 2,000 people following local disasters, like home fires.
“I’m honored to lead our local Red Cross board,” said Jacqueline Brooks. “With the help of my fellow board members, trained staff and compassionate volunteers, I’m confident we will continue to provide the same support we always have—even as we work to climb out of this devastating pandemic.”
Brooks replaced former Board Chair, Kurt Overton, of Morgan Stanley—whose term ended at the end of June. Overton will continue to serve as a member of the board.
