Forty teens interned with our Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) program this summer at AT Augusta Military Medical Center on Fort Belvoir in Virginia, learning about all the roles and skills it takes to run a hospital.
Red Crossers from around the region joined Sickle Cell Warriors and supporters for a stunning photo as the American Red Cross headquarters in Washington D.C. was lit red for World Sickle Cell Day in June.
June 28 was the 5th anniversary of the tragic shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis. More than 2,000 pints of blood have been donated in memory of victim Wendi Winters, a journalist, Navy Mom and Red Cross volunteer.

The Red Cross opened its first-ever fixed blood donation site in the state of Delaware this year! A special ribbon cutting was held to open the Wilmington, DE location on March 1.

The Red Cross held a celebration and ribbon cutting for the renovated Red Cross building on Fort Belvoir in Virginia on Jan. 26, renaming it in honor of Major General Carl H. McNair, a great supporter and friend of the Red Cross and Fort Belvoir.

In February, an early morning fire at a Silver Spring, Maryland, apartment building displaced more than 400 residents. Red Cross volunteers were on the scene to help those affected and support a shelter that was set up for evacuees.
