WPTV News Channel 5 Chief Meteorologist Steve Weagle made his annual Ride for the Red Cross on June 4-8 to kick off hurricane season. This year’s ride raised well over $150,000 – far exceeding our goal to purchase a needed Next Generation Emergency Response Vehicle!

This year’s ride from Sebastian to Boca Raton marked the beginning of hurricane season and raised awareness of the Red Cross. Steve broadcasted live on WPTV from his stops twice a day, and local partners, sponsors and residents gathered to cheer him on and make this a successful event.

The goal of the Weagle Ride is to educate residents on hurricane preparedness and disaster relief, and to raise critical funds for the region. The American Red Cross is incredibly thankful for Steve’s dedication and for the hundreds of thousands of dollars he has helped us raise in support of these efforts.
