MIAMI, FLA. (OCTOBER 10, 2023) – Following the multi-unit fire in Miami Gardens that occurred yesterday evening, the South Florida Red Cross is providing support to those impacted by the blaze.

The South Florida Red Cross has opened a temporary shelter located at 1200 NE Miami Gardens Drive. Red Cross staff and volunteers are providing emergency aid such as food, clothing & health services. With the help of community partners, the Red Cross continues to work around the clock to assess the needs of those impacted, working with each individual family to address their specific needs.

Last night, more than 24 people sought refuge in the Red Cross shelter.

“Our primary focus is to work with each individual resident to assess exactly what their needs are based off the incident,” said Monica Rusconi, Regional Disaster Officer, South Florida Red Cross. “We will work with each of those families to make sure we meet those needs, whether it is food, clothing, shelter, prescription medications, etc.”
