MIAMI, March 5, 2018 -- The Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter of the American Red Cross will honor Iberia-American pop music icon, Chayanne at its 36th Annual Red Cross Ball, “A Masquerade in Red," on Saturday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne. This year’s event will be chaired by Ana and Cecil Milton alongside Philanthropic Chairs Swanee and Paul DiMare and celebrates the life-saving services provided by the Red Cross in South Florida.
Chayanne, a long-time volunteer and member of the Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet, will be recognized with the Crystal Cross Award, which honors celebrities and entertainment partners who have shown exemplary support of and service to the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross. Chayanne has been advocating for the importance of blood donation for many years, and most recently, following the devastating impact of Hurricane Maria in his native Puerto Rico, has been incredibly active with the disaster relief efforts.
"We are honored to present the Crystal Cross Award to Chayanne, who rolled up his sleeves with the Red Cross and helped with a huge humanitarian effort in Puerto Rico,” said ball chair Ana VeigaMilton. “We could not ask for a better representative of the Red Cross."
The annual ball raises funds for Red Cross disaster preparedness, response and recovery programs and services, continuing its tradition and commitment to the Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter. In addition, for the first time this year, the event will feature a Young Professionals Party in Red after party. Cocktails and mingling begin at 9:30 p.m. for the young professionals and ballroom doors open at 10:30 p.m. Young professionals can secure tickets to the after party by visiting redcross.org/news/event/A-Masquerade-In-Red.
“The American Red Cross is one of the longest-established organizations in South Florida and has been there to provide relief and comfort to families and individuals in times of need,” said Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter Executive Director Emily Borababy. “We are thrilled to have Ana VeigaMilton, who has dedicated herself to community service and philanthropy for more than two decades with organizations like the Red Cross, serve as our Ball Committee Chair. She is President of the José Milton Foundation, which supports programs and organizations in South Florida that improve quality of life, with a special focus on education, research and healthcare.”
