FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (January 21, 2019) – The Broward County Chapter of the American Red Cross has appointed Scott Ford to its Board of Directors.
Scott Ford is the Vice President for Development and Marketing at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Previously, he served as the Vice President for Development with Advocate Charitable Foundation, in Illinois. Advocate is a faith-based health system and is the largest healthcare provider in the state. For six years, Ford’s market area was central Illinois, where he provided fundraising leadership at hospitals in the communities of Normal and Eureka. During his time at Advocate, Ford and his team completed two capital campaigns, raising more than $20 million and served as President of the Brokaw Hospital Endowment fund.
Ford also served as Director of Development with the University of Iowa Foundation for five years. He worked primarily with the College of Public Health, where he helped successfully complete a $15 million capital campaign.
Health care, the environment and community involvement are Ford's biggest passions. For 20 years he served in America's national parks and wildlife refuges as a Park Ranger and Emergency Medical Technician. He also ran for public office and was elected in 1997.
Ford holds a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Marycrest College and a master's degree in Philanthropy and nonprofit management from the University of Northern Iowa.
“Scott will be an asset to our Board, bringing his vast knowledge about the Red Cross mission from being a volunteer well over twenty-five years,” said Paula Prendergast, executive director of the Broward County Chapter. “He’s a dedicated leader for the Red Cross and we are thrilled to welcome him to our Board of Directors.”
